These are whole strawberries which have been freeze-dried. But unlike normal strawberries, they don't go mouldy - making them ideal for long space expeditions (to Mars and beyond). (The sell-by date is typically 2 years from date of purchase.)
Great fun for children to try in class. (A typical pack contains about 40 fruits.)
You can also do some fun experiments with them, e.g.
- Put one in water and watch it swell up.
- What proportion of a strawberry is water? The pupils can find out for themselves by weighing the strawberry before and after soaking in water.
