Colour Changing UV Wristband Experiment
Ideal for ages 4 to 13
Reception to Year 8 (P1 - S2)

|
These beads are white when they are indoors - but take them out in the sunlight and they
change colour almost instantly.
Children get to make their own wristbands using the beads and leather cord - both of which
are supplied in the kits.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Once the children have made their wristbands, they can use the colours to measure the intensity of
the sunlight - and to find out how suntan creams protect us.
(The beads change colour in ultraviolet light - and it is ultraviolet light which causes our skin to
tan - or burn - when we are exposed to strong sunlight.)

|
|
|

Different worksheets allow pupils with a wide range of ages and abilities to take part in this
experiment.
